Mary is the bestselling author of three novels: the PEN/Faulkner-nominated young adult novel, Qualities of Light; A Woman’s Guide to Search & Rescue; and, most recently, Last Bets. Mary received her MFA from Goddard College and has taught at various writing schools and universities. Her writing-craft book, Your Book Starts Here, won the New Hampshire Literary Awards “Reader’s Choice” award. Before moving into fiction, Mary worked as a chef and food writer, with a syndicated column in the Los Angeles Times. She lives in New Hampshire with her family.
